Patterns / Poomse Seminar
(Tuesday 6th May 2008)

At the recent grading test / seminar it became
obvious that we have several high grades that are training with
different Dorset Taekwondo Association instructors. 2nd Kups (red belts) and above, especially those that teach and / or want to test in 2008, should make every effort to attend. The session will cover Taegeuk 1-8, Koryo, Kumgang and Taeback. We will also prepare for our poomse competition on 31st May, and learn the basics of judging using the red / blue direct elimination system. |

Coaches comments "It was a very mixed day - but good and full of valuable experiences. The team have improved a lot since their bouts in February. We still however, have lots to do."

Equipment
We have in stock a limited supply of SMA (WTF approved) Shin and forearm guards. They usually retail at £42, but for a limited period you can get a set from your instructor for only £30 (less than cost price!).
The reason for this is that from March onwards Green belts and above will be required to spar in full protective equipment during their grading tests. The club can provide some trunk protectors but you should get your own full set of protective sparring equipment asap.

Chris wins Silver at the BTCB British Championships
Congratulations to Chris Fortune who won a silver medal at the BTCB British Championships (Junior Advanced -73kg). In a field of 7 fighters Chris had a reasonable draw outpointing his semifinal opponent 3-1. The final was against a class competitor from Liverpool Elite who was as tall as Chris. Despite a valiant effort Chris lost on points securing SILVER.
Chris is only 16 and with hard training will be ready to take several golds in 2008.

Christmas Party 2007
The 2007 Christmas Party and Annual Awards Ceremony was a great success with over 70 people joining the celebrations.

Monthly Payment Scheme 2008
The cost of ALL lessons from the 1st September 07 is £4 per lesson. This applies to junior & seniors. I urge you to consider monthly payment as it is NOW cheaper than the pay-as-you-go option. Monthly payment is mandatory for all new students and is the preferred option for those who are already members.
