NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - RESULTS

The National Championships were held over 2 days, the 20th & 21st September at Stoke Mandeville Stadium. The team performed exceptionally well with one of our highest medal tallys ever!

Poomse

The Poomse Competition was Saturday 20th at 3pm. There was just under 100 competitors. Master Evans and Master Naraine were judging and therefore did not get to see all their students compete. The scoring was done by 3 Masters (on each ring) who would publish the scores at the end of each Poomse. This system is much fairer and more interesting to watch. It is much less subjective than having one or two judges who do not publish the scores.

Medals went to :-

GOLD - Mustafa Efezeybek, Jessica Efezeybek & Cathy Evans
BRONZE - Lousie Pike, Matthew Pike (Our new Poomse hero - quite unexpected!), Aaron Moss and Mustafa Efezeybek (Mustafa competed in two categories).

8 Poomse competitors, and 7 medals. WELL DONE!

Overall we were placed 4th in Poomse. Not bad considering the clubs in 1st and 2nd had over 20 competitors! Seriously, it goes to show that our poomse is extremely good, definately well above the national average. I am sure that if we put 20 competitiors in next year we will get the 1st place team trophy!

Kyorugi

The Kyorugi competition was on sunday 21st. There was just under 250 competitors from white belts to Masters and ages from 6 to 56. Everyone did very well and I have yet to add up our fianl medal tally.
Two notable fighter were:-
Adam Moore
who lost 6-2 but he was fighting the Irish Junior Champion who will soon be trying out for a place at the Olympics!
Matthew Pike
